Augmented Reality is finally gaining mainstream adoption in the Field Service Industry
In a recent Field Service News interview with David Nedohin, President of Scope AR, David Claimed that AR Has numerous use cases in the Field Service space and what pieces of technology will play a pivotal role in the field service delivery model in the future. With the introduction of AR remote support/assistance is easier than ever. AR can provide field techs the ability to leverage reality overlays to help complete a support task. David claims that in order for companies to be able to make the push towards AR for field techs the company will need to have a number of processes/resources in place. This will entail: Expert knowledge available for Field Techs in the field, Expert support staff ready to help field techs with any escalated support cases, and expert knowledge base that can be used by both support staff and field techs. The real problem companies will face around adopting a disruptive technology is what interim strategy they will adopt as the AR solution is being developed. AR will provide the medium for knowledge transfer to field technicians, but if there is not an existing trove of knowledge AR will not be an effective technology for the company.
